“Now godliness with contentment is great gain.” I Timothy 6:6 NKJV
Money never satisfies those who love it (Eccl 5:10-12). No matter how many cars you have, you can only travel in one at a time. No matter how big your house is, you can only sleep in one room at a time.
If you are content with whatever God gives you, then you will not go after what the devil is offering you.
In Lk4:2-8, the devil offered Jesus a lot of riches and influence; even though Jesus was tired and hungry at the time the offer was made, He did not take the offer because He was content with what God had given Him.
Watch your appetite. Esau lost his birthright for a plate of portage, David's lack of contentment made him run after Bathsheba, Samson destroyed his destiny on the lap of Delilah. Have dominion over your appetite.
“Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:” Philippians 4:11 NKJV
The moment you learn contentment, you begin to enjoy the peace of God because the present situation is not permanent. He makes all things beautiful in His own time.
Father, please teach me to be content.
Shalom!
