“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”. Romans 5:1
It is by faith in Jesus Christ that we have been justified and not by our works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Grace and faith are key to our salvation and the consequent justification that guarantees our peace.
This concept of peace based on the believer’s justification by faith was prophesied by Isaiah hundreds of years before the coming of Jesus Christ - “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee” Isaiah 26:3.
The next verse adds, “Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.”
The strength under reference here is not physical, it’s an inner strength that is released from heaven upon the believer when times are tough, such that they are guaranteed peace even when everywhere is in disorder and seems to be out of control.
So no matter the trials and persecutions, you can safely rest on the peace that comes from knowing Jesus personally.
Why not turn all your struggles over to Jesus and enjoy the peace only He can give?
Father, please fill me with your peace so I can smile at every storm of life.
Shalom!
