The Teachable Heart

Teaching becomes a difficult one to task when a teacher is confronted with stubborn students. To be unteachable in the things of God is a very dangerous state for anyone to be in.
A receptive heart is blessed for many reasons, some of which are indicated in Proverbs 9:9 “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.”
The first blessing of a teachable heart is that it increases in wisdom. This wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord, which is manifested as deep reverence for God’s word Proverbs 1:7.
For a heart to be teachable in God’s word, it must be meek. The Spirit of God makes this clear in Psalm 25:9 “The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.”
Anyone who desires to have a special place in God’s heart must also develop a teachable heart through meekness.
