The Cost Of Wrong Ships

“But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.”Jonah 1:3 NKJV

Jonah’s story is a sober warning that finding an open door or a convenient path does not always mean it is a God-given opportunity.

Disobedience always has a “fare” or a price attached to it, and it is a price one can never afford to pay.

Note the direction of Jonah’s life the moment he turned from his calling: he went down to Joppa, he went down into the ship, and eventually, went down into the belly of the fish.

Every step away from the presence of the Lord is a step toward a lower version of yourself. Let your feet be set on the path of obedience.

Father, please grant me the grace to walk in Your Will for my life IJN.

Shalom!
