Beauty Replaces Despair

“To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭61‬:‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

One of the most wonderful things about being a Christian is knowing the person of God and the truth of His power.

This knowledge is the answer to every situation or challenge in our journey of faith. It helps us build trust in God even in our moments of despair.

Isaiah 61:1-3 is an assurance from God to His people, Israel. They have endured many challenges, from being exiled from their homelands to discrimination and poverty because of their disobedience.

Yet, Isaiah reminded them during a time of exile that God would not leave them in despair. He would give them beauty in place of ashes.

God promised to exchange despairing spirits with the garment of praise and beauty and bring joy to the people, who would now be “trees of righteousness” instead of dejected exiles.

Father, please grant me the grace to trust in You, Your abilities, and Your promises IJN.

Shalom!
