“So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.” Romans 9:16
Mephibosheth was five years old, when the news came that his grandfather, King Saul, and father, Jonathan, had both perished on the battlefield.
For fear of possible assassination by contenders for the throne, his nanny hurriedly fled the palace with him. Regrettably, he fell in the process, breaking both legs and ending up crippled.
When David eventually ascended the throne, he sent to find out if any descendant of Saul was still alive, whom he could show kindness for the sake of his friend, Jonathan 2 Samuel 9:1.
He was told of Mephibosheth and he sent for him. This changed the story of the defenseless and disabled man, who had hitherto regarded himself as “a dead dog”.
King David gave him a permanent seat at his dining table. He also ensured the full restoration of his entitlements as a descendant of the late King.
Have you been pushed aside, stepped over, denied a right, or stagnated unfairly? Do not despair. Put your trust in the ever-merciful God. Help to facilitate restoration and upliftment is on the way IJN.
Father, you are my help and my deliverer, please make haste to help me IJN.
Shalom!
